Designer Mallory Carroll To Sell Her SBJ Austin Line in Central Austin Storefront
January 14, 2017— Austin Fashion Designer Mallary Carroll will open a new retail store, “Good Company,” on March 1 at 918 12th Street. To celebrate, there will be a grand opening Thursday, March 2 from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. with light bites from Contigo.
In addition to carrying Carroll’s own label of clothing and jewelry named SBJ Austin, she will also sell other fashion and jewelry lines, shoes, home accessories, unique gifts and furniture. The same lighting, tables, one-of-a-kind rugs, and furniture that decorate the store can be ordered there too.
The SBJ Austin line is made in the United States, and currently sold in 25 stores across the country, including ByGeorge exclusively in Austin. Carroll started her SBJ Austin line six years ago in order to dress women of all shapes, comfortably and fashionably. The clothing is made of natural fibers such as silk, cotton, cashmere and kupro (a nut fiber).
In addition to designing her own line of clothing, Mallary Carroll worked in retail sales for 7 years at ByGeorge and has 20 years of retail experience overall. She started in retail in Nantucket, buying cashmere from Scotland. She still sources her cashmere from the same Scottish farm, and says she loves knowing the animals are treated ethically and humanely and insists that “the Scots have the softest cashmere.”
“My clothing line is inspired by the modern day woman,” said Carroll. “I want the line to be ageless and timeless…something that women can wear to the grocery store, date night, a work lunch or driving carpool. Each item has a modern twist on a classic piece, and can be worn year round by adding a sweater or jacket over the items.”
